Re-use rubber gloves

I go through a few pairs of rubber gloves in a year so I was delighted to find a webpage that gave tips on recycling them. Or rather re-using.

First you cut off the fingers and use them on broom (or other) handles to give a good grip. I haven’t tried that yet but I have followed the other suggestion of cutting them into strips to use as plant ties. It was a bit fiddly to do but they are nice and soft and will stretch when tying the knot. My garden is going to be full of lavender coloured ‘string’!

The easiest alternative, of course, is to use the gloves in the garden but they aren’t tough enough for me as my fingers go right through when scrabbling in the soil.

I have seen some where...where somebody filled rubber gloves with cement...waited until they were dry...peeled the gloves off the cement and then used them as garden decoration...not realy my thing but everybody to their own.

I have lost the covering from a couple of my sets of pruners, never occurred to me to try the fingers off the gloves, sounds a very good tip, thanks Arb...

That sounds more practical then using my old bra straps, which is what somebody else suggested I do. :O
