Blowsy

My garden is beginning to look blowsy as everything is growing much taller and bushier than seems usual for June. Clearly the weather patterns are to blame but while I don’t want the borders too neat and tidy I would like to see all the planting instead of much of it being hidden by other plants which have run away with themselves.
Today I moved a Tellima that was spreading fast but which I just couldn’t see because it was almost covered by Heucheras, also going mad.
I’ve been trying to get an Aconitum Ivorine but so far no luck. Having seen it growing so prettily I fell for it so if I can’t get it at Wyevale on Friday (I don’t have high hopes – they’ll probably cite health and safety since it’s highly poisonous) it will have to be an internet purchase.
I’ve changed my avatar picture again and I apologise for confusing you all. I kept losing myself in different postings and didn’t feel comfortable with the red rose anyway, pretty though it is. This time it’s another view of my last garden which in one way I miss because of all the lovely space. However, I don’t miss the pressure of the ever constant work and all the weeds which used to come from the fields behind and from so many birds. Brambles were very prolific.
I’m hoping that this unsettled weather is short lived as I really want a decent summer.

Pamg gave me some good advice, to put out beer for the
slugs problem. Its certainly more effective than Slug pellets. Yesterday I logged 16 slugs and 4 snails,
today even better 28 slugs of several species (no I am not going to learn their names). and 3 snails.
Reckon before this happened I had lost £12 worth of seeds.
They even took some Sunflower seedlings 5 feet up on the old shelving. A bed of Carrot seedlings, two packets of Wild Life special seedlings, a Cucumber plant, 8 Sweet Pea plants.............
I have just filled the four 3.5" plant saucers. One is under my garden chair, three are under brickie buckets, propped up at one side to protect them from the heavy rain showers.
I never understood why people drink beer, but am happy to buy another 4 pack at the Co-op today !

The beer traps are great to stop slugs and snails, Diane bit I stopped using them because other, good insects can drown in them also.

I check them at 8 a.m. Paul before the other insects are about. Put fresh beer out at 8 p.m.

Beer Slug Trap total for today Wednesday 51. Scooped them out with a spoon and left the beer. Prop up side of
bucket at 8 p.m.
I cover the saucers with the brickies buckets during the day . Insects are safe.
Realise its easier to pour the beer in a plastic jug. Am getting better at it !
Pleased with good results.

Perhaps I'd better put one under my lovely white campanulas - one clump has had the flowers completely eaten away leaving just the stems.

Its sickening when that happens Stera. You will be surprised how many you catch. I call them 'the silent
killers.' The prolonged wet weather doesnt help.

Apparently scattering copper pennies round your plants, like copper tape, also works. Not tried it yet, wonder what copper content in pennies is though? Anyway, better fill up those beer traps again...

Unfortunately, all the rain has brought on a lot of growth here too but the strong winds/storms we are currently getting are damaging so much of the growth!
The garden looks a little intidy and plants which are flowering are losing their flowers early due to the rain and wid turning them brown then blowing them off!
