Only a short blog

I’ve just been looking at the honeysuckle on the back, north facing fence. It’s laden with flowers. I only brought a small rooted piece when we moved here two years ago but it’s a real picture now. Very satisfying. I hope the insects like it too.
I just yanked out some Knautia also on the same fence. The dark maroon flowers were lost against the brown wood but the main reason is that it has reached about 4.5 foot, is bushy and flopping everywhere despite being supported. It’s overrun its allotted space. This plant, too, I brought with me but it looked better in a large garden where there was real space for it. Sadly, it’s now gone into the garden waste bin as there is nowhere else to plant it. But I can see the white clematis behind it now and it’s lovely.
The roses are, at the minute, looking very sad. The morning’s rain has saturated them and their heads are drooping badly. I can only hope that for their sake and mine we get some decent weather soon because this month has definitely not lived up to it’s Flaming June label.

It's possible the Knautia is reaching for the light but that north facing part of the fence does get some sun from one side later in the day. And, as I recall, the plant didn't grow nearly so tall in our last garden even though it was in amongst shrubs. It does seem that the weather is the likeliest problem as so many of my plants have doubled in height.

Yes....the grass, certainly is romping away this year, with all the rain!

Yes, so much rain and wind here recently has finished a lot of flowers early including, Clematis and rambling rose.If the petals don't get knocked off, they go brown and soggy.
Do u think the Knautia problem is partly the shade, and it's stretching to get the light?
I have a North West facing garden so do have a few problem spots as u can imagine.
