Christmas & Easter Cacti flowering at the same time in June 2016!
I have several plants of each of Christmas & Easter Cacti but for the first time ever they are flowering at the same time in June 2016!
They all live in our kitchen, the majority spent the greater part of their lives on the windowsill which is 3m (10ft) long. The ones that are too big for the windowsill live on a shelf below the window, we originally made it as a sort of “breakfast bar” but after a year or so we stopped using it & now it has become a shelf for some of my bigger plants.!

What is the cause of this phenomenon ? Is it the light
levels with so much cloudy weather ?

Its not that unusual. Hywel was saying a few weeks ago that he had the same thing.

My Cacti have been all over the place too - I have just been to the greenhouse to check and there are two blooms out on a Christmas Cacti - but nothing on the Easter ones -

well they are giving you some colour on these damp dark days, my mother used to grow these plants. I have tried them but always lose them - not good with house plants. Enjoy them, do you think they will re-flower around Christmas and Easter?

They need a rest in autumn - keep them dry for a month or two. When you soak them to start watering again they usually bud up very quickly. If you time it right you can have them in flower for just after christmas when you need a bit of brightness around!

Both these plants flowered before this year but it is the first time they have ever flowered together at the same time & so out of season!

They are pretty ones. One of mine suddenly decided to flower a month or so ago too.
