Planters around cash machine 2025
Here are some photos of the planters around the cash machine that I planted up during June.
Many of the stems of the Cosmos plants are like this one:
Since I took these photos the plants have come on by leaps & bounds. As we have had such hot weather I’ve been watering the planters twice a week using 10 lts of water each time. The cats that had been using the planters as their private loo seem to have left them alone now. But before I planted the Cosmos, Calendulas & Geraniums they used it all the time & ended up killing all but one of the Primroses I put in for a spring show. The Daffodils, perhaps because they were planted deeper, survived.

Nice that you do these planters tho’ I think your local council should do them.Ours in Godalming are lovely again this year. I can’t put any photos on here at present, perhaps by Christmas, we’ll see!!

The local town hall has shown no interest in these planters since they put them in place about 3 years ago! I even wrote to them last year & told them I was doing the planters but I never got a reply.
As we are expecting to move somewhere else sometime this year I wasn't sure if I would be able to plant out the flowers I was growing on the balcony to put in the planters. Eventually I decided that was the only thing I could do otherwise they would die on the balcony. I'm watering them twice a week while this heatwave lasts but when temps go back to the more normal June/July temps I will stop. They will have to adapt to the planters as we may not be here all summer.
We don't know yet where we will end up but it's likely to be a fair way from here & I won't be able to bring bottles of water to water them.

I hope you have a successful move.

Me too! The best of luck with your move Balcony.
Will you have your own garden when you move? It's great how you are planting up these bins and wonder why the council put them there if the were going to remain empty!

FF, thank you! :) We saw a flat today in a large village close to Huntingdon. As it looks to be a very similar size to this one we've lived in for the past 24 years, although it needs some work & redecorating our housing association will take care of everything so we have said "yes" to the flat! We will be returning for a 2nd viewing in a few weeks time with our daughter & gdaughter.
Rose, there is no balcony even though it's a ground floor flat like we have here. There's no garden but there is a grassy bit outside, around the back of the flat, which the housing association manager says we can treat as if it were our garden.
The tubs were put in place about 3 years ago this July. The balcony was being judged by the Town Mayor who told me they were in collaboration with the police in protecting the cash machine from possible robbers who might come along & lift the whole thing & take it away on a lorry! He told me the planters would be planted up "in due course" (his words!). They weren't the first year nor the 2nd so I took matters into my own hands & put some plants I had on the balcony in the planters. I wrote a blog of my "adventures" a couple of years ago!

Callie, I hope they are enjoying the flowers I put in! :) I'm watering them with 6x5lt bottles of water twice a week at present, at least as long as this heatwave lasts! Today, the last day of June, we have 31C here in Huntingdon! Tomorrow, the 1st day of July, it's expected to be very similar! On Tuesday we are told to expect a fall of up to 10C! I wanted to take a few photos to update this blog but due to the heat all the plants were wilting! Only the planter with Geraniums in it looked unfazed by the heat! :D)

Thanks for the updates, a nice bit of colour to what could be just drab boxes
Will you leave the pot marigolds to self seed?
