My granddaughter the genius gardener!

My eldest granddaughter came to town just over a fortnight ago – she was only here for the weekend to be at her cousin’s christening. However while in town she came to visit her other Grandma and Grandad (that’s us!)
As you know it’s been raining here non-stop ever since the beginning of January – torrential rain – and no-one can get into their gardens. My granddaughter asked if she could do some gardening – I said that wasn’t possible because of the rain! But then she spotted some packets of seeds. “Can I plant these, please Grandma?” she asked with those big green eyes of hers pleading to me!
Well of course that’s what we did. We planted the seeds. Now no-one sows seeds in the middle of summer in tropic North Queensland – I mean NO-ONE. It’s hot, humid and horrible! Added to this, some of the packets were definitely passed their use-by date. But I gave in and explained that they might not grow very well! (All the time knowing she was leaving anyway and I thought she would forget about them!) But she wanted a photo – so we took a quick snap in between downpours of rain:
For the past two and a bit weeks we have been deluged with rain and there has been widespread flooding. I never gave those seedlings a thought. Today it stopped raining for most of the day and I took a walk around the garden and into the greenhouse. Guess what?
I’ve sent the photos to my granddaughter and told her she must have magic green fingers! I guess a combination of that and the rain worked on these seeds!

Your Grandaughter is beautiful, a lovely memory of her visit when you plant these out. Also the perfume of the Phlox will be a constant reminder.

What a happy story. :-)
I was interested to see that you can get Mr Fothergill seeds over there, too! So they are world-wide!

Yes Spritz Mr. Fothergill is available here. You can even get the packets in some of the supermarkets - the smaller independent ones - which is where I picked these up quite a while ago.

Yes thanks everyone - she is just a beautiful soul - my husband calls me Cyclops when it comes to my children and grandchildren - but she really is a lovely little person! I do think she will make a fantastic gardener - she has started her own little garden at her home - all her own idea - despite the fact that my son and daughter-in-law have absolutely no interest in gardening at all!
