What a great weekend! Blue sky, white clouds, comfy temp, no rain - Gar...

Had a fantastic weekend – worked in the garden most of the weekend after not being able to do anything for two months now!

Yesterday I finally got to plant up the downstairs garden bed – still more to do there but I was so glad to get started.

Today I got stuck into the ferns that had taken over the greenhouse. Pulled out most of the ones that had crept right up the edging blocks and had started spreading across the tiles. Now looking much better.

That’s the pile of discarded ferns and iris plants building up.

After clearing out ferns and lillies, I actually found some things in the greenhouse that I had forgotten were there. I found my bromeliad again and it’s had babies.

I found a pentas I’d forgotten about.

I could finally give all the begonias in hanging pots a good haircut.

Then I gave all the happy plants (draceana massangeana fragrans) a good tidy-up and, well I think they look even happier now!

Then I re-planted the native violet and lobelia that was taking over the greenhouse pathway. I moved them to a section of the courtyard garden that’s under the pergola – they will add some much needed colour to that spot.

Added some to the possum planter as well.

I could then get down to the other end of the greenhouse to do some potting up.

Potted up the belladonna lillies.

Potted up some portulaca cuttings taken from last year’s plants.

And potted up some cuttings taken from the New Guinea balsam – unfortunately the parent plants that were in the greenhouse had perished so am hoping all these do well.

Then I potted the cuttings from my favourite cordyline.

Finally I was able to plant the russelia, the hemigraphis, the scutteleria

and my gardenia at last!

What a great weekend – did I say that already! Anyway I feel I achieved a fair bit and looking forward to next weekend!

Your weather and choice of plants is very tempting. I might have to think seriously about emigrating.
