With the most appalling weather continuing,I have not set foot in the garden today, been waiting to take a picture of Acer Brilliantissimum, this is the two week wonder of this family leaves change to green very quickly and there is no Autumn colour,so pleased I planted it a long way from the house.
Took the camera into the bedroom tried a picture through the glass, as you can see I am looking over two other peoples gardens towards it no good at all. so braved it opened the window and zoomed out and was surprised in low light how well it it worked.Yes it’s Panasonic and in front is Photinia Red Robin .

Beautiful. But Brian, I think those trees enjoy the rain. And you enjoy them. Chin up!

Terra It was planted in the 80s same time as others there, about 25+ years ago have lost count now.
Katarina I enjoy all trees.

This tree is a really special one Brian. I wish I had chosen this one when I planted two similar acers in my garden - drummondii and a red version (cant remember name now) The red one was chopped down a couple of years ago, it was much too big for the garden and casting too much shade. The other tree is lovely, it has a white variegation on the leaves and always seems to light up the garden when it first comes into leaf. I do like it, but if anyone is planning on planting a new tree I would definately recommend Brilliantissima - its gorgeous.

Beautiful acers Brian - our acers are not so well established and suffered quite badly in the dry weather last summer - but they made it through to this Spring and I am sure they are welcoming the deluge

Poppy i think I am in the minority but for me the season where it has appealing foliage is far to short,as i said before i love it for about to weeks then you may as well have a Sycamore tree.if i had to have just one I would have your Variegated one I like them a lot.

Oh that surprises me Brian- all the books always wax lyrical about brilliantisima. I think I prefer it because of the size and that lovely shrimp pink foliage when it first comes into leaf. What they dont mention is about it being boring during the rest of the year...lol
