They are a bit erratic this year some have full leaf while others as yet have none.
The first picture shows one of the first I ever found in the garden as a seedling, strangely not like any other in the garden its now about twenty years old.
I have no name for this one it is growing in a container
These are now very mature and totaly cover one end of the pond
The next one you can just about see the small waterfall through the lower leaves
while we are this close to the water I will show you what lives in it.
The white one we measured at 22in last year not large for a Koi but there are two more of similar size plus a shoal of Rudd plus goldfish and all living in a quite small pond.

wonderful, I remember your maple photos & wished I could grow mine directly in the ground. Your un-named acer could be orange dream but there are so many variations now as you know, all beautiful just the same. Beautiful koi.

Bampy. I like Plants in container it means they can be positioned for effect as I see you do, downside is the watering and for me now the weight.

As Sticki says, Brian you are very lucky to have both acers and koi in your garden.
Your unnamed might be Sangokaku as the young leaves look similar to mine and the younger stems look pinkish

These are lovely, Bjs. They make such a statement and, like you, I have mine in big pots to move around and change the look of the garden. What did we do before these were freely available?

Lovely Bjs, I only ever had one acer and it died after about 5yrs, don`t know why, it was a gorgeous dark one, seeing yours makes me want to replace it, your fish are lovely as well, many of ours are now over 30yrs old and started life in an indoor aquarium, one becomes very protective of them after all that time....

I had large koi at one time, unfortunately they got ill as did everyones elses around here about 7 or 8 years ago. Horrible when they die, large & super friendly, yes, you do get attached. We had a large pure white that grew from a tiddler, would love a koi pond again but decided against it. I have wonderful photos & movies of them.
