Ioulon is the gateway to the Cote d’Azur in Provence.A former military port, and one of the most important World War 11 sea ports. As we arrived on a Sunday, most of the town’s shops were closed, but as we have visited before,we
were more interested to see some more of the small resorts in Provence,so we went on a morning tour of Bandol, and then on to Sanary-Sur-Mer.
Firstly, arriving in the port. You will see the naval influence
here.

,So away we go on another lovely tour, firstly to the pretty town of Bandol, with its elegant palm-lined
promenade, packed with cafe’s and boutiques, and another lovely market, displaying all the wonderful produce of the region. We stayed for one and a half hours here, giving us plenty of time to browse, and of course,a stop at a pavement cafe to watch the world go by…

Back on the coach, and on to Sanary-Sur-Mer.for a short stay, but still enough time to have a nice stroll around.

I know I shouldn’t have,but I just couldn’t resist,and As there were no children waiting,..and no one looking..it was fun.Lol.

Maybe I shouldn’t have done it after all…look who surfaced as we were leaving Toulon.!! Our Captain told us not to worry,as it wasn’t one of his..he was German..so everyone was waving and humming The French National Anthem….I was hiding..Lol..

And to cap it all, this appeared !! Taking things a tad too far,I thought. Have they no sense of humour??.I did wonder what the inside The Bastille was like…

Hope you enjoyed the sunshine and greenery. This is the last part of our wonderful cruise holiday, and so many lovely memories,to look back on..

Wonderful. Like Yorkie I felt as if I was there too. Could almost feel the sunshine on my face. Lovely photos Sandra, thank you so much.

Yes, I agree with Cinders. I enjoyed this ever so much. All that lovely sunshine, the beach, the boats, the MARKETS..wow the markets! Aren't they lucky to have those fantastic produce markets. I know we occasionally have them, even up here sometimes, but they are a monthly event if we're lucky! Of course, it wouldn't be the same in the pouring rain would it! lol.

Thanks Yorkshire,Cinders and Karen.Glad you enjoyed it.It made me feel better looking at the sunshine again too..roll on..We really enjoyed this part of France, and its so worth the cost of going on some of the trips...If only money was no object,eh?..On the other hand,we wouldn't appreciate it the same..

Lovely photos. In the late 1970´s we used to go camping down in that area and Sanary- Sur- Mer rings a very big bell in my head. Happy times.

I don't think the same rules will apply to you about being silly..as a Golden Oldie,I think its expected,so you can get away with it most times..I just see a shake of the head,or raised eyebrows,an odd tut tut,but hey,who cares ? :o)))

Don't the French do markets sooo well! I think about markets I've experienced in Britain and they are usually a tatty mess compared to the beautiful French markets. What a lovely trip you had - thanks for sharing. :o)

perhaps its to do with the weather but you are right nariz, markets abroad in general are much more attractive than ours. why do the english ones have to look like something resembling a jumble sale?

7 Feb, 2011

Thanks Sticki and Nariz,I agree about the markets looking so good.I think our markets used to be good, but a lot of stall holders have had their rents increased so much,a lot just can't afford to do it anymore, and its such a shame,as I used to enjoy going to a lot of them...and all the pound shops don't help ,but I must admit,I go to them as well..
I do use our indoor market a lot though, and they are struggling too..lots of stalls are closed now.

I could almost feel the warmth of the sun just by looking at your lovely photos, it is just so beautiful there. Well done you for not being able to resist sitting on the rocking horse, I thought I was the only one who did daft things like that...lol! And yes, the market looked so appealing, the French really DO know how the art of presentation. I`m glad you had such a wonderful trip. :o)

Cheers Shirley.I would love to shop there too. They were quite expensive, but probably tasted lovely. We have never had a holiday there, just a couple of overnight stops, when we went on a coach tour to Diano Marina, years ago....never again, too far by coach...and the others have been trips out,but loved everywhere we went.
