Get quite a lot of little helpers when busy gardening this chap often joins me

And if I uncover a bumper crop he calls his partner to join in..

Unlikely to be another male robin as very territorial suppose it could be 2 lady robins who lunch..

So much nicer and more eco – friendly than a lawnmower. Its a bit haphazard though you can forget having stripes in your lawn and we do tend to fertilize as we go !

Can I help too ? I ve been busy ..

Look what I ve done .. I ve been digging.

You sure you should be doing that there ? He doesnt look very happy ..oh oh Mum !

Oh you in trouble again ..now behave and do as your told .What have I told you about talking to strange men ?

I did warn you ..youre on your own there . Thanks guess I ll practise looking a bit sheepish..

As for you Mr gardener ..I ll do the discipline thank you , might I suggest I ll get on with my business..

…and you get on with yours !

Lovely blog BB. Lovely photos. I love seeing the little lambs.

2 Apr, 2009

I learned recently that both male and female robins have red breasts... I always thought it was just the males!

Lovely photos, BB - love that naughty little lamb! Hope Cyril is doing OK. No sign of Tufty and regular walkers in our local wood tell me there are no squirrels around at all - very worrying :(

2 Apr, 2009

Great blog and photos as they always are, it's nice to see photo's of the little lambs as we never see any real ones here.

Thank you not really a garden more like a farm where I spend a day a week - could work there full time as covers acres ..

One question Moon grower what did you think the female looked like then ?

Dont worry Gee its breeding time and both parents remain in the drey until babies weened 8 - 12 weeks later wont be long before squirrels everywhere !

Sure you ll see plenty on the way to Harrogate , Clarice oh when coming to Yorkshire dont forget your passport ..lol

Thanks Toto - I ll never be rich doing this but so lucky I drive to work through North York moors National Park often deer leap across the road on the way..

I cast my mind to people struggling around the M25 in London to work , yes you may earn more in a week than I do in a year but what price all this ?

Well Milky Bonkers by name Bonkers by nature ...

2 Apr, 2009

Your so right Bonkers. There will be a lot of wealthy people in the graveyard and they will never have had as rich a life as you and me.

2 Apr, 2009

Reminds me of the song:

Doe's eat oats and doe's eat oats and little lambs eat ivy,
a kid 'll eat ivy too, wouldn't you?

Little lambs are so appealing aren't they?

Thanks for the pictures and the stories.

Couldn't agree more Marge. A few roast potato's and some mint sauce. Couldn't be better.

Oh so true Toto - think its why I love this site , yes we digress into things away from strictly gardening and at times we dont always agree ..but generally respect one another .

This the only site I use as others degenerate into some pretty nasty stuff and I for one join to relieve stresses of daily life .. think that explains why some use it for polite social networking as so few exist .

So apologies to the gardening purists who think what has this got to do with gardening ?

Sometimes the fact that people are relating in a friendly relaxed manner , particularly in these dark times outweighs that.

So cute!!!!!!!

It's nice to see the spring lambs. Funny about the 2 robbins - I thought the females were brown.

3 Apr, 2009

Yes Bonkers. Everyone is so friendly and may it always stay that way.
On a serious note, you couldn't have better workmates, either those in your blog or GOY members.

3 Apr, 2009

You can't get much better workmates than yours BB. The lambs are beautiful. I cannot imagine what it would be like to live in a city but I guess the city dwellers think how awful it must be to live in the country. I love to see the baby robins - all speckled arent they :-)

:) !! Lovely!

Brilliant! I once blew up my lawnmower, & a neighbour commented on the length of grass in my field (about a half-acre of steep hill!) & said he'd help me cut it! He came back 20 mins later with 2 goats & a sheep! I got quite fond of them, & had PLENTY of fertiliser for my compost bin! My container garden by the house was great!!!

23 Aug, 2009

LOL Madperth.Beats a conventional mower anyday !!!

25 Aug, 2009

Oh yes! The goats were a lot of fun!
The sheep was totally dippy! AND her name was (gag!!) Shebaa!

25 Aug, 2009

25 Aug, 2009

Nah, she was too old!
I mentioned on another thread that I used to live on a farm, & I cooked a meal & ate it only to be told I'd eaten the calf I'd hand-reared! NOT nice!!

25 Aug, 2009

Oh NO ! How horrible ! Did you feel like Hannibal Lecter ? Lol

25 Aug, 2009

I was in tears!
They did the same with a lamb, & thought my reaction was hilarious!
******s!
as I've said, we SHOULD all know where our food really comes from, but not that personally!

25 Aug, 2009

It was me you told Mari, on sunday when i was saying i could'nt eat a rabbit as i think of them as pets.

25 Aug, 2009

That's right, Carol!
I rarely ate meat there after that! The geese < pigeons & fish didnt bother me, but .....

25 Aug, 2009

How cruel Mp...sorry..not funny at all for you...........as Clarice will agree ....

25 Aug, 2009

I agree all the way BB.

25 Aug, 2009

I can see how THEY thought it was funny, being so inured to it, but I'm a townie!

25 Aug, 2009

That makes two of us Marie.

25 Aug, 2009

:~))) It was a bit of a culture shock, I can tell you!!
Sorry, had to go 4 a while, unexpected visitor!

25 Aug, 2009
