AFTER THE RAIN, THE SUN.

Sunday evening, after a rather heavy downpour, the light had a lovely quality….I rushed for my camera! I hadn’t long come back from walking the dogs when the heavens opened….much needed rain:o) Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the beauty…this was one of those times:o)

You may notice the my macropetela is in flower and has been for weeks, what a bonus. Also I’m amazed to find that geum rivale leonards variety is in flower again. A short time after I took the photos, we had a very heavy thunderstorm, won’t even have to water my baskets:o)

What a gorgeous garden you have, I also love it when the sun comes out after the rain and the steam rises off the paths, its magical, love your pond and your water feature is fab, you have designe'd your garden beautifully, all that colour as well, sigh, very, very pretty, love it..

Thanks Ydd, I pinched loads of ideas off here for the makeover and Louis helped too. The hard work and the idea of a circular path to join up the main circle and the corner circle was makeover Trevs idea. I do love it, I see the pond from my kitchen window:-)

BA what's the tall plant in the picture above sun dial just behind the blue plant, the picture between the sun dial and alstromaria's. ????

Hi Stripes, is it the green shrub hung with pods? if so it's colutea arborescens which has yellow pealike flowers for a long time which are followed by what I think look like pretty lanterns, very pale green at first, then turning gradually to mahogony colour later in year. This is the first year it's looked so good as it has been very cruelly treated in the past. If you look at my blog Lovely Garish Garde June you'll see a better pic of it and some flowers as well as pods. It's commonly called the bladder senna, awful name.:-))

Thank's BA will look later many thanks for that.....

Looks really smashing BA, cant understand how you can go on about how small it is...it looks huge!

8 Aug, 2011

Wow Ba you are such a clever gardener, your garden looks just fabulous and I love that pond.

\0/ Hi Tet, it is a funny shape and we angled it into the corner if that makes sense? It's only about 52'ish (15-16 mts) long x 30'ish (9.2ish mts). The pond is looking good now, but water still green, apparently the fish (3) quite like it that way and the frogs couldn't care less:-)

Morning BA!!

\0/ Hi Sticki, it's nice to be called a clever anything, even wrongly.....it's the plants wot dun it! It's freezing here today, not a bit like August:-(

9 Aug, 2011

no i wasnt wrong (for once!) you are clever in the planting ~ fooled tet didnt you??
i think the trick of clever planters like you - is to fool the person in the garden into thinking they are in a bigger space ~ thats very clever.

Autumn is not always kind to plants as they pass their best. Hope the high winds that we have been having recently, haven't done too much damage. I think that I may have lost a metal arch over here..sob..
