THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN Thursday June 30th

I had just finished watering . It was somewhere around 9 o’clock and I was sitting on a chair on the old, concrete slab, patio nearest the house, having a little read. I looked around me, and the sun was going down and highlighting different plants…I was suddenly blissfully happy.
Naturally I ran to fetch my camera:0)

Above my head was a canopy of fatsia leaves. This was bought as a small pot plant about 12 to 15 years ago.

Through the arch to the main circle. East facing border still has many gaps

The shady north border catching the last rays of the sun.

Illuminated acer.

Sunny border in unaccustomed shade.

Little corner circle in shade.

These blissful moments are so precious:0))))))

Lovely Ba, nothing better than relaxing in our gardens of an evening especially when the sun is going down, I always think its a good time for the camera as the sun passes over the bottom of mine and catches the last corner. Lovely photographs and can see why you felt happy.....

It seems the sun going down has really helped to highlight your plants in dappled light....your acer and the fatsia look especially pretty. I've just bought a fatsia in hopes it will grow big and strong too :) I've looked at acers but my goodness....a bit steep, price-wise and some don't look very well shaped.

Very nice pictures BA...thanks for sharing.

Thanks Ll, I think I felt very righteous after all my work too as I'd had the family for lunch earlier:-) I've bought acer off ebay too Wl, always check how big they are before buying. I got a taxi to a local garden centre on Sunday...wished I'd saved my money. The prices were extortionate and there was nothing I really wanted there anyway. What a waste:-(

Nice one BA, its lovely last thing when sun going down and peace descends, can well understand you trying to capture it! And your garden is much neater than your previous blog shows it to be!

8 Jul, 2011

I'd prefer it with your view Tet rather than houses:-) As to it being neater than in other blog, must be flattered by the light:-)

Well said! Just been watching Gardeners World and saw the Oppenheimer garden at Waltham. You've done similar in a glorious mix of colours, allowed to have their will but within given boundaries!
