Autumn Colour

It is quite a dull day, today, but there is plenty of colour in the garden to cheer me up.
The leaves of the Acers are taking on a rich autumn hue and look splendid.
Rhododendron ‘Yellow Hammer’ is one of the hybrids that can be relied upon to give two displays a year, once in spring and now. Even better, the flowers last such a long time that it is almost permanently in flower.
Lurking behind a daphne I found this Cyclamen hederifolium. Note the pink noses on the flowers and the markings on the leaves.
Up the side of the shed, Clematis orientals has almost finished flowering and is now producing its amazing display of furry seed heads.

Thanks, Louise. Actually, whilst the acers are relatively sheltered our whole garden is quite open and they can experience wind burn. Interestingly, one year it will be the acers in one part of the garden and the following a completely different part that will be affected.

I love the cyclamen BB....very prettily marked leaves...didn't know the flower ends are called noses! Your acers have a good shape to them.

Actually Fluff, I don't know that 'nose' is a correct botanical term. It is a word I was using to indicate the bottom edge of the petal and I don't know if there is a correct name for this. Can any of GoYlands botanists help here, please?

Your acers are amazing. And once again I'm green with envy at a clematis. Your garden looks wonderful :o)

I think the deeper pink centre of the cyclamen flower is called the 'mouth' BB. Don't know if that's botanical tho lol.Near enough to the nose, facially speaking !

Trouble with GoY is there's so many [oooooooooooo] pictures that I'm running out of adjectives for "ooooh"!

I know what you mean, Orgratis, I keep using the same 3 adjectives - perhaps we should start a list somewhere of adjectives (nice ones, not nasty) we could use!

Those Acers look wonderful, you must have them in a nice sheltered spot.
