My Sisters Garden

My Sister lives in Spain for quite a lot of the year and I visit her there when I can. I was there in April and have already posted a couple of pictures from a trip we did to the Genal Valley. I have been looking through my pictures today and found some of her garden. When she moved in there was nothing in the garden and she and her husband have worked hard to make it colourful and interesting – they have very sandy dry soil and obviously the planting had to cope with very hot dry weather. I think it looks lovely and thought I would share it with you, I hope you like it.
The Bottle Brush plant is usually covered in red flowers, but the sparrows love them and strip it bare!
They have lots of lizards living in amongst the rocks.
The sparrows missed this Bottle Brush plant! The Bougainvillia grows so rapidly it has to be cut back every three months.
This is her local garden centre.

TT - I'm going to tell her I posted some pics on here, she will be very proud! The garden centres are magical places as far as I'm concerned - so much colour, I make sure we always visit when I'm over there and inevitably buy something I can bring home - although not plants unfortunately!
Dawnsaunt - The gardening is so different, when they first moved there they lost a lot of plants because it was just too hot and dry - they now know what works and what doesnt.

They must miss growing some plants that we take for granted in the UK but they must be able to grow some beautiful ones too.

It looks lovely BL. Your sister deserves to be proud. I understand the difficulties of gardening in the heat although we also have the cold. Your sister has done really well. :o)

Your sister has a beautiful garden. She must have worked hard to get it looking so nice. I hope the sparrows leave some flowers on the bottle brush plant for her to see :o)
