A Day of Surprises....

About a week ago (and to be honest spurred on by various blogs/pics on here) I scoured different plant suppliers and found some hedging/climbers I lusted after and, clutching my debit card, put in an order. Every day I have waited with baited breath for the postie to deliver, and this morning he did! This is what was in my special delivery;
10 Queen Elizabeth Hedging Roses
2 Clematis Montana Rubens
2 Jasmine Clotted Cream
2 Trachelospermum Jasminoides
5 Hydrangea Red Head
and as a free gift 100 mixed Crocus and 20 mixed Hyacinths.
Needless to say I roped K into digging out a new bed!
Queen Elizabeth Roses bedded in
A while ago I was given some perennials and today I thought I would check on them – I was surprised when I noticed the labels are now completely blank – and I have no idea what they are! :0((
Or these!
Or these!
Another surprise greeted me in the greenhouse – these two small aubergine nestled at the back undetected and completely unexpected! :o))
Mousaka for lunch tomorrow perhaps?

I'm forever having the same problem - the tags are blank or have been blown away - I find them in very odd places!
Moussaka sounds lovely on a cold day like this!

The second 'blank label' is Sedum spathulifolium Cape Blanco, BL.

I'm not always good at identifying..

You ordered some nice plants. I like crocuses aswell. I planted a lot this year.
5 Dec, 2009
Yes, Trachelospermum jasminoides... wonderful :o)
5 Dec, 2009
Whaaattt ??? Are they those little yellow, purple and white things that come up in Spring ??? LOL ;~)))
5 Dec, 2009
Could the first blank label be a Phlox?

The third unidentified plants look like small shasta daisy to me - I've forgotten the latin, used to be Chrysanthemum something or other, but I think now reclassified to I can't remember what. Useful, aren't I, lol
Looked it up, Leucanthemum

Wow! Went off for dinner, come back and there are 14 comments on this!
Louis1 - Weather permitting I will be planting the rest tomorrow - the Jasmine and Clematis are for the new arch.
Sue - Most of my garden is planted like that!
Clematisa - At least I can reuse the labels - we all like recycling! lol
Bulbaholic and Bamboo - I am going to look in my books now that you've given me names and then I'm going to look in my desk for a waterproof pen!
Hywel and TT - I'm hoping to put the Trachelospermum into a large container near the back door, that way I will (hopefully) have the scent next to my kitchen window.
Sanbaz - I'm hoping they all do well, I cant wait for the arch to be covered in colour and scent - tell him you'll cook him a moussaka and maybe he'll do it sooner! lol
TT re the second photo - don't know what the latin name is but its "hardy, likes to be well fed and takes up quite a bit of space" LOL :0)))))))

Sounds a bit like me !! lol Enjoy Busy !! :~)))

I was going to say, permanent marker, that's the only thing of use for those plastic sticks, Busylizzy. And I'm not certain they are Leucanthemum, they just look like they could be at the moment.
5 Dec, 2009
Oh Sue Lol !
Busylizzie...great collection and good to see they threw in free bulbs ! We like free ! Lol
5 Dec, 2009
i think they are leucanthemum too bamboo. they self seed all over my garden.
5 Dec, 2009
Self seed is good! I like self seeding!
5 Dec, 2009
Take it from me, if you plant those three out that you've already got, you'll be digging up the clumps and splitting them in less than 3 years, wondering why you've got so many all over the place...
5 Dec, 2009
Not tooooo much, though....it depends on exactly WHAT is self seeding, and where! LOL.
5 Dec, 2009
Thats true Spritzhenry, Ive got "Nigella Love in a Mist" all over the place - and I didn't plant it there!
6 Dec, 2009
Lovely all those plants delivered i love them sort of parcels the postey man delivers.
6 Dec, 2009
You're right Clarice - they are among the best deliveries to get!
6 Dec, 2009
you look as though you have some lovely plants ,and glad K is just like the roses,Hardy and well fed.He deserves it after all that digging.lol.It will be lovely next summer.:o)) are you sure you live in this country?as it looks like
summer,re K's t- shirt.!!.

Just catching up now - re my comment on digging them up (shastas) I just meant that the clumps increase greatly in a season, so within a couple of years, it's possible to have an area that's now nothing but shasta daisies, rather than them seeding themselves.
and here's a thought, I've had as much delight in having all the christmas presents delivered (at no extra cost) via Amazon - fantastic, all the presents done, never even left the house, I'm a complete convert, lol
7 Dec, 2009
Bloomer - Im hoping that the roses come on and I have a show next year - believe it or not that was on Saturday in the morning - K was hot from working so hard...lol
Bamboo - I've ordered everything I can from Amazon - still have to do some shopping tho....I have so much room in the garden any plant that increases is welcome (as long as they aren't dandilions) lol
7 Dec, 2009
Fabulous Delivery! I also love these deliveries which according to 'him in doors' now need to be delivered by air as 'air drops' as they are often so large. P.S. He is also the 'man who digs'. ha, ha :-)
10 Dec, 2009
Bless them Loobee, where would we be without them eh?
10 Dec, 2009
Very true. Tho I guess our houses would be much less messy.
11 Dec, 2009
LOL - and we would be able to use the TV remote....
11 Dec, 2009
So true. :o)
11 Dec, 2009
But where would you ladies go for the training? Whoops, sorry.
11 Dec, 2009
Bulbaholic, you have a little fire in your belly.....I love it! I think you may be outnumbered on this site tho. LOL.
12 Dec, 2009
Aye, fortunately I learned to duck a long time ago.;-)
12 Dec, 2009
The first unknown looks a lot like thyme. Rub the leaves to see if they smell like it.
12 Dec, 2009
Bulbaholic - lol - if I need any training I know where to come!
Wylie - although it looks like it Its not thyme - still a mystery!
12 Dec, 2009
I think the first one is, as Bulbaholic suggested, a Phlox, or possibly one of the ground spreading Veronicas.
14 Dec, 2009
Bamboo - I think it is definitely a ground spreading plant I have a recollection of reading that when I got it - roll on spring so I can see what it does!

Lovely blog Bl :-)
Your parcel has so many gorgeous things in it, lucky you, enjoy :-))
Are you planting the rest tomorrow ?
The second from last picture looks a bit like young Scabiosa leaves - i'm NO expert on identifying plants though, so wait until others reply on that !!!
