Spring 2017

Just thought I’d put a few photos together in a blog rather than separately of a few things flowering and coming along nicely now. Also a big change in the garden……… no trampoline anymore so it’s nice to be able to see the whole garden again!! ?
I planted a new rhododendron last year and thought it was flowering but turned out to be new leaf growth but it flowered beautifully this year, only for the flowers all to be damaged by the hard frost we had a couple of weeks ago, which was a shame I had another white rhodo but never noticed this happen before, it also got my Persicaria Red Dragon.
Here’s a few more pics of plants flourishing at the moment.
Acer palmatum Bloodgood
Ajuga reptans Burgundy Glow
Syringa Josee
Geum Mai Tai, suddenly flourishing
Geum Totally Tangerine, needs a little tidy up but should get better and taller
Astrantia major Variagata, love this one for foliage
Looks like I may have lost some Achillea Terracotta, no sign of them atall, kniphofia seem to be growing away, hope the slugs don’t get them this year and salvia doing well soon to flower also.
Finally a pic of my east facing woodlandy border, coming along nicely. Thanks for looking :-))

Looking good, and so neat and tidy. The Astrantia looks interesting. Both my Persicaria Red Dragon and Purple Fantasy got well frost recently this May, in Hampshire, not to death luckily.

Its great to see a long shot of your garden showing some lovely planting. I`ve got three Astrantia but haven`t come across this variegated one which looks interesting, will the flower be red or the lighter pinky white?. Like you we have had some slight frost damage but fortunately nothing dire. The rain over the last couple of days is very welcome and has certainly perked things up.

Hi Stroller, thankyou, the flower colour is white with dark pink eye, really pretty, there is a pic on my photos bottom of page one, it's chucked it down today hasn't it!! But yes the gardens will enjoy the rain and lovely how it brings the colours out :-))
