Hi all, got up this afternoon just after finishing night work shift and had a few hours in the garden, started at about 4.00pm and finished at 7.30pm.
Had to stop then as 1. Very tired 2. Hungry 3. Being eaten by mosquitos.
Dug out and bagged up about a quarter tonne of earth, moved all my sandstone from the old waterfall site to another area in the garden.Bagged up a few more bags of stones and cobbles from the stream, and taken the stream liner out.
I am now running out of space to store the materials for re-use so moved a lot onto the patio and other hard standing areas.
I estimate atleast another 1-2 tonnes or so of soil to dig out as I want to take some of the slope out of the upper part of the garden before any further work commences.I need to get the area level for re-locating my shed and levelling with the path and surrounding areas.Several trips to the tip are in order.
Pic 1 as was before starting today. Pic 2 more earth removed and rocks and pebbles from stream. Pic 3 My new rockery! …….only kidding, sandstone blocks moved to fence area, and a few more rocks on the pile. Pic 4 Rocks on top of wall are homemade fakes, used on the stream edge as I run out of rocks at the time and they are dear to buy.I will have to do a blog sometime on how to make these.

Wow. You're working hard... very interesting to see the progress and all the rocks stored for future use ...
The rocks look very clean... have you scrubbed them, or were they not muddy etc. ?

Hi Tt,thanx.
They weren't too muddy, but I cleaned each stone of mortar and earth as I removed them at the waterfall site, that way the mess stopped in one place and I will not have the chore of cleaning them at a later date when I want to use them. The mortar, old broken bricks and concrete was put straight into a crate and bags ready as hardcore for the shed base, the earth stayed where it was and the rocks ended up here which is to be the site for a new rockery.I try to do things methodically and plan it all.A lot of time was spent this afternoon moving all the materials to other places,I can not work with too much clutter around. This whole upper area will need clearing of everything as I will be excavating (using hand tools only) and reckon a possible 1-2 tonnes of earth to dig out and get rid of.
I am back on day work tomorrow so will start again on Tuesday weather permitting.

Hi K, its certainly was but I do prefer a few coffees to keep me going.I struggled a bit this afternoon as I finished night work this morning, got up at 3.00 ish and started about 4.00.Although still very tired I felt I needed to get on and do a bit.Had a glass of white tho with my dinner and now feel very sleepy Lol.
Hi Cristina, what am I like..........there's no stopping me when I have an idea for a project as you probably know by now from all the previous photos on here of past work.

You clearly have a tremendous amount of energy - you're making me feel guilty! I haven't even cut the grass in front for a month! Too lazy and it's too hot; temps in the upper 90s every day, it's horribly humid and I can't keep the bugs off. I have a week off from work beginning next Saturday and - the lord willing and the creek don't rise - I should be able to get a lot of outside stuff done.

Love your homemade rocks, in between all your hard work maybe you would put the recipe on here!! Keep up the good work !

I want the rock recipe also! I was lucky enough to get a whole pickup truck full of rocks from a friend, but they won't last long & I hate having to buy them.
