Hi all,
Weather here today has been a very low cloud but apart from a few minutes light rain it’s been an ok sort of day,

Ive finshed “Bar-Boo” the small statue now,
she’s had her last coat of paint done and after today will be ready for her next few years back outside in the garden.

Im making plans to start on the greenhouse, ie a really good clean of the frame and glass,
Plus all the seed trays etc.
Ive verious shrubs over wintering in the greenhouse and it wont be that long and the seed sowing will be started,

Question,
Do any of the greenhouse owners heat their greenhouses over winter???

The reason im asking is because this is the first year for a long time that ive not heated my own house,
I found it was getting very costly to keep it heated and after reading verious thoughts on this sunject !!!

to “Not” heat but buy the plantss from the garden centre
and let them look after the starting off of the plants and then buy & grow them on,
Im still going to sow seeds But i’d like to know what other folk are doing ?
Heating all winter or using the greenhouse from spring onwards

I daren't have a grreenhouse here, its too windy. But when I used to have a small one I had a fan heater on a frostat setting. I will buy plants if they are slow starters and I don't need a lot, like annual begonias and pelargoniums, and start the easy ones off in the conservatory.

I have a heater which hasn't been needed this winter but ordinarily it would have been in place, however I only use it on the freeze setting, much too expensive otherwise....

I don't heat mine either but only use it for overwintering succulents that don't like wet and my youngest daylily seedlings, anything that doesn't like the cold goes in the sunroom for winter, I do use it in spring for seedlings started in my heated propagator and if a frost is forecast the fleece comes out, if its exceptionally cold they all come into the sunroom too
