More Artificial Grass

When we gave up caravanning we were left with a tatty concrete surface and an oil tank now in full view. I wrote earlier how we transformed these eyesores.
I have now been able to persuade my Other Half to tackle the area around our pond. It’s a nice, peaceful spot though somewhat overgrown and the path around constantly needed weeding. When it rained it was rather muddy!
Artificial grass has once more come to our rescue. It may not be “real” gardening but, hopefully, it looks OK and has cut down on the weeding.
What do you think?

It looks lovely and fresh!

It certainly looks neat and tidy. This artificial grass is getting quite popular, it seems.Ideal for wraps where normal grass would struggle onto grow.
Is that a bench in the before picture? It looks a nice piece of wood!!

Thank you for your kind comments.
Yes, Paulspatch, it is a nice piece of wood and cost us the grand sum of 5/- I think way, way back. We bought it from a forester friend's contact! Waited years before we found suitable "feet"!
I'll post an image of the pond so that you can see what we look at when we sit on the "nice piece of wood"!

Looks good and another area transformed for you, I have cats and dogs so wouldn't be a good option for my garden but cannot see anything wrong in using the artificial grass, at least you won't get brown dry patches when it needs a drink, mind you thats not a problem today as its pouring down...

What does it feel like underfoot? It's certainly a good idea & one I may well adopt for a steep bank I have that's a problem area.

Depends on the quality of the grass. Some are like billiard cloth : avoid. Ours was sold at a reduced price and is lovely underfoot. It is warmer than real grass!
Some from specialist shops can be expensive.
Fitting on a steep bank could be awkward.
Can't see a problem with cats or dogs. It can be hosed down.
Some people Hoover them: not me!

Paulspatch: the wooden bench cost 7/6 as it had to be planed!

I'd be interested in any info you could give me. Have had a look online & it all sounds complex & expensive & so many types as to be confusing.

Ha ha.....half as much again then , for the planing!
So.....3 half crowns!!??

Green finger: Have sent you a private message with some details.

Correct, Paulspatch. I take it you are not from the UK if you talk about humming birds. On the other hand, you seem to know what a half crown was!

Yes it looks better like that. Anything to make life easier is fine by me :o)

Yes, I'm from UK Eirlys..........but I don't remember mentioning humming birds!!??

Thanks, Eirlys, got the message.

We too have used artificial grass the best thing we ever did as we have two border collies they were for ever churning up the grass .We then tried decking that was a disaster it got so slippery in the winter when it was frosty or wet.
thank you for artificial grass

Paulspatch: Apologies. Confused your image with another.

Ha ha.

I have actually read that some people Hoover their artificial grass.
Can you believe it?
I can understand hosing it down.

My neighbour uses one of those garden/leaf vacuums. Or, you could just sweep with a besom or other stiff broom, I suppose.

I thinks it's lovely and a little bit of help in the garden as we get older doesn't harm as you said it's a nice peaceful spot and it is surrounded by some lovely shrubs so just enjoy it :-)
