I like toona sinensis. It's not a fish but a tree with the most incredible bright pink leaves in early spring.

Monkey puzzle tree, the name always puzzled me
Obedient plant. Wondering what makes it obedient???
The cactus called A mother in law cushion or other called mother in law tongue (what is the problem with mother in laws)?
Naked Ladies ...just starting to bloom in my garden.
Sometimes I give plants my own names which might be complimentary but many times they are just silly.

Obedient plant. If you move the little flowers around the stem, they stay in position and don't spring back, hence they are obedient. However, the roots are far from obedient ....
Another one to raise a smile - lobelia siphilitica.

I photogtaphed the above label mainly because our lovely neighbour is called Marion. She has a cottage garden and a sense of humour!

Klahanie, Monkey Puzzle tree cos each branch is like a monkeys tail, try puzzling out how many monkeys that would be.
Years ago when planning a first garden, I had my list of desires & set off to the nursery to ask the man if he had a Cotton Easter. Well, he scratched his head & then a light dawned, "Do you mean koh-toh-nee-AS-ter?" he asked. Oh did my face go red. (cotoneaster)

Mind your own business, makes me smile. Real name funny too, Soleirolia soleirolii.
I always thought monkey puzzle got its name as it would even puzzle a monkey to climb it :)

Greenfinger: Is your surname "Kardashian"?
Andrewr: Well I'm a follower of that blog now.
Nice, bright colour that plant.
Dawnsaunt: the monkey puzzle tree! Have you seen where they are sometimes planted? My sister had a huge back garden and a pocket-handkerchief front garden. So did her neighbours, but the monkey puzzle was in their front section. It threatened to loom over the house! :O)
