No one is an Island

The high water in winter has eroded our little island yet again.
Last year’s marsh marigolds, irises and rushes have vanished without a trace.
This February has been warm and sunny and the stream is down to summer levels. It was ‘suggested’ by ‘Senior Management’ that, as we had oodles of flag irises, a more permanent site was required.
We built a ‘frame’ of granite boulders and filled it with the winter’s detrius from the stream bed. We’ve planted umpteen irises and, hopefully, it’ll give us pleasure in the summer when we sit with our full glasses in the warm evenings and listen to the stream.

Now I can see the island :o) At first I thought you lived on one lol.
I love those yellow flags. They remind me of my botany teacher when I was in school - now I might write a blog about her ! Yes i think I will lol

I agree with Sticki, it looks beautiful already. I love all those moss-covered rocks.

I feel as though I'm on holiday already! We usually rent a place for a few days in southern France in the spring and early autumn, lovely.

it already looks wonderful; such a lovely place to sit by; and when the flowers come out it will be just perfect.
