Bjs' baby

I’d commented on a photo Bjs had put up, of a blue Omphalodes, saying that blue flowers were my very favourite.
To my total surprise, Bjs pm’d me and offered to send me a piece of one he was tidying up. I checked on Shoot! for the plant size; they had four, all the same size (small) so I jumped at Bj’s very kind offer.
The box arrived very quckly …
I had to wait till early evening, when the rain stopped enough for me to nip outside and pot it. the root was a bit longer than I expected, but I hope I’ve done it right, or at least not too wrong.
Two days later:.
Thank you, Bjs!!!

lol now to make sure it "lives long and prospers"! There are four types on Shoot; this is one of two most likely; one has white edges, the other a white centre. it's too dark now to go out and see what my new baby has, but when I do I'll be able to get specific care instructions.

Hi Fran..
This is Omphalodes cappadocica Cherry Ingram ..
..prefers part shade.... soil moist but free-draining...
I hope this helps. :o)

thanks, TT, that helps a lot! I'll check out that plant's particulars so I've got a fair chance of keeping it happy.
It's gonna get part shade whether it likes it or not, but I can place it so it gets a bit more shade more of the time.
I try to give all my pots good drainage (sometimes I wonder if I've given 'em too much, but I suppose that's better than not giving them enough), and I bought some water-retaining crystals at the pound shop last time I was there. Now I just need to remember to sprinkle some in each pot.

Hi Fran.
I find, when looking at plant labels, nearly every plant would prefer moist soil with good drainage... Lol. Good luck with your new "baby". :o)

Thats a smashing delivery Fran, I hope it does well for you......

I was surprised at how quickly it arrived: lol, I went online to tell Bjs it had come and found his pm telling me he'd just posted it! Maybe the "articles for the blind" label helped, or his "live plants" label. I've never really had occasion to time deliveries before.
I've looked up the particulars of this plant (thanks again, TT) and I'll do my best to make it happy - lol now I've told everyone I've got it I daren't do anything else!
