I don’t know what made me think of it, but I suddenly remembered that I’d heard a Gardeners’ Question Time programme about using plants to deter intruders; could’nt find it, so I did a Google,

I've just been re reading the ones I had from GQT, and a couple of others I found online while I was looking for the links to post.
Thorny barriers are fine, but one still needs to be ale to get at them to prune etc - can imagine me wearing a suit of armour or an American Footballer's padding!
But then, the gardener would be doing it by day and in the open, which is more than a burglar would be.
I used to have cacti, but then my vsion got worse and they started biiting back more ...

I 've always planted thorny boundary plants as they are often natives and pretty through out the seasons. some of my favs are blackthorn and hawthorn both natives and provide memories of the hedgerows from the 60's before they were all grubbed up.
