Deer Hunters
11 comments
We have experienced shooting of Deer by Poachers just recently!
This went on late at night or even early Morning. Word got around so
we set up a petition. The lovely lady who took it into her own hands, had
spent days and night campaigning against this . We all did our own little bit to help her try to stop this horrible thing happening to the Deer.
People take their dogs for walks in these fields, including myself, we were
finding these large Pellets on the ground, which were used as evidence.
The Council agreed that something had to be done……which had taken
some time. Its a long story, but eventually things started rolling.
Steel Placards were put up around all the Fields where the Poaching took
place stating that Poaching was not allowed!!!
And now we have Patrols flying around in Helicopters nearly every night!
Its nice to know we can all get together and do something about these
horrible occurences happening to our Wildlife. We still have Council
Meetings every so often just to air our views on what is going on in our
Area and trying to put things right.

I heard about this on the Radio news the other morning. Cruel and criminal, well done for mustering up support for action. Apart from the cruelty it's sounds downright dangerous.

Well done to everyone in their endeavours to prevent the shootings and keep the area safe for the deer, and for all creatures and people in that area.

It will still go on, we will never ever be able to stop this Cruelty!
All we can do is to try and make it harder for these Poachers to spoil our
enjoyment to do with Wildlife!!
Thank you for all your Comments on your say about our Deer!

It's great that something is being done now. At least if it still goes on it will not be on the same scale.

Lovely that you were able to do something about it. This is a hunting country and, happily, hunting stops today for a couple of months. We're so glad as we've been able to watch two small deer who enjoy a certain field not far away, but many of our weekends are noisy outside with the sound of baying dogs scross the mountains and the occasional shot. We even sometimes have men turning up in our village - as it has a good vantage point across the valley - with walkie-talkies and with rifles slung across their shoulders. Not a lot a couple of Brits can do about it in a country that enjoys its hunting!
