Karen, seeing it reminded me to add my 'bucket of mint' to Shirley page from Megans... confusing or what ? Don't see them around much now.

Hi both ...the bucket cost £1 from the tip...in the days when they would select items and sell them off in an old warehouse.Sadly council do not allow it anymore........BB used to buy old garden tools for a song...and still uses an old but very sturdy spade he bought there......

Mine was my Grandads, we found it at the back of the shed when he went into a home aged 98, he lived to be 100, dear old man.

I agree with everyone - it looks fab, in fact, sooo fab and soooo posh, shouldnt the said bucket be pronounced 'boookay'??? I'm off to ebay to see if i can get a bookay just like this! We could start another club.....
8 Jun, 2010
He he if started pronouncing bucket as bookay here in Yorkshire I d soon be put right MH ..lol time was when such things discarded have a collection of old tin watering cans several old pot sinks old forks and spades even a pile of victorian rope top edging someone was throwing away ..
We used to be able to purchase such things cheaply at the local tip , surely that was re cycling before the eco police found a way of taxing us for it ..

the old ways are always the best, as they say...

So my Dad keeps telling me ..lol but I refuse to put my bedding plants in straight lines ..much to his disgust .

Lovely clematis & lovely old enamel bucket (sorry ...booookay). I have three old metal watering cans, but haven't done anything with them yet ..... I've had them for over 15 years ... in fact they came out from England with me .... along with a Georgian well head (actually just the bit which had the big wooden roller & the winding handle atached with heavy iron legs on either side & blocks of wood at the bottom. Still got the original latch/hook but sadly no bucket. The wood has swollen up & split a bit on the roller, so that now I can't get one of the end iron rings around it anymore ... & there is a bit of rot on one of the blocks at the bottom now, but I think it will look amazing in the garden somewhere, but haven't thought that far ahead yet. I do see these old enamel buckets in secondhand shops sometimes, & I foolishly ignored two wonderful galvanised wash (or baby) tubs a few weeks ago, & when I went back to grab them, they had gone (of course). I always see these great things as I whizz passed a particular secondhand shop on my way to work .... I really must leave at least 15 mins ealier at least one day a week.
