Last summer someone asked me what I did to make tjis plant grow so well. And there is a little story about this plant so I'll reprint it for those who are waiting for theirs to bloom:
I have to laugh when you ask this because when this was just a new plant I fussed over it, read up on exactly how to plant it, cut it back etc. The plant didn't survive. Meanwhile, my daughter who was about 6 at the time, took one of the clippings, had shoved it in the soil, and we totally ignored it until one day after mine was long gone I noticed that hers had indeed survived. When it developed enough I moved it to its present location where it gets afternoon sun and shaded roots. I have had it for about 11 years now but it has only taken off this past 3 summers. I have not trimmed it at all as I am wanting it to frame the garage window .Am not sure if that helps it's growth. So much for TLC!

Thanks for that Nancy. Maybe I am killing mine with kindness.
This year it had better get ready to be neglected.
Yours certainly looks good, the photo should be in a gardening book.

Beautiful clematis! I fussed over the only three I have ever planted, & all three got the dreaded wilt only weeks after I planted them. Have not dared to attempt to raise one since then & that was around 15 years ago. But living in a different country now & have decided it is time to try again! Will pop it in, water it regularly, & feed it when needed, but other than that, I am going to ignore it & maybe this one will survive. lol
