This wisteria was brought from England about 20 years ago. It seems to like it here!

Stunning!

We love it, and in May we move into the spare room and keep the windows open just so we can smell the scent on the night air. Intoxicating!

Think I would do the same Gattina.

Want to see some more pictures of the inside of the house? It comes with a nice view and 23 cats, and at the moment, until I can catch up with all the garden chores, it looks a lot prettier than the outside.

It is the little square windows at the top.....They are perfect

Those little square windows are supposed to be unglazed to catch cool air currents. We live in the area where Parma ham and Parmesan cheese is made, and the air currents were for drying and curing the raw hams. Our house, like all the others round here even had it's own pig house originally. Two years ago we raised pigs (cento senese - very old breed a bit like saddlebacks - see the picture I'm about to upload) with some friends, and tried our hand at the ham/sausage etc. making. Not entirely successful - a bit salty, but we still have home-cured pancetta swinging from the beams up under the roof. The pork, by the way, was incredibly delicious - the best flavour you could possibly imagine, and well worth all the work. I've put on quite a bit of weight in the last few years. I wonder why that might be? Our daughter says we're turning into scruffy, dirty-handed peasants. Hooray!

Know that feeling well...down and dirty with the rest, what fun...:)))

Thank you, Annella - can't wait for May when it flowers again! My favourite time of year. I already have one of your pictures in my "favourites" file, by the way - the one with the gorgeous Cotinus in it - you know the one?
