Thanks - I like them, too - I was hoping to have my 'Emily McKenzie' in flower - but no such luck. All those corms I planted - and most failed in the frosts. Now she is a really gorgeous girl!

Oh, pants!! :(( Back to the bulb catalogue then?

Yes...and next year, they're going in later. Much cheaper as corms, unless they all fail, of course! :-((

Well, it's worth another try....:))

Yes. If you buy pots, they're very expensive, aren't they.

2 Sep, 2010

Hmmm....aren't all plants!!

At the Show last year, they wanted £5 for three stems in a pot. Exorbitant! Think how many corms you can buy for that!

2 Sep, 2010

Oh, that's ott. The ones on the right look ok...if you get a decent clump. The pot I bought recently had about ten stems in it for £6...pretty standard pricing I think....

I wouldn't mind, but at Malvern, later on, I paid £3 for 5 stems - and they haven't come back up this year! :-((

If I spot a larger pot I might get that...

do you have a problem with field mice B?

2 Sep, 2010

No - only the occasional one spotted. I should think they're scared of Henry, wouldn't you?

There is that! :))

We had one indoors once - I didn't like it there one bit, but it was more scared of me than I was of it...so OH put a ramp up against the kitchen door, and it scurried out. I had to keep Henry out of the way!

Oh, that brings back some memories for me B! Once one came in to our entrance (about 1mX2m, tiny!) and it was running round the outside of the space and I was squealing because I was terified of treading on it and it moved so fast, and my Mum, Oliveoil (it was in the cottage she lives in now) was in hysterics laughing at me, and I think or dog was also part of the chaos.....hilarious!!
