Dahlia "Toto"

An anemone-type dahlia, with a lovely name for our "Oz" garden.

Hadn't thought of picking them, Marguerite, just deadheading to keep them coming.

Are those dwarf type Dahlias? I have three right now and they do require deadheading to keep them going. I have so many dahlias of different sizes and colors I have to pick a day to just deadhead dahlias!

Wow, Gardengnome! These reach less than 3 ft tall, I planted only 6 tubers, and I have to deadhead these every second day, I find! Still, a relaxing garden job, where you can "switch off", carry out a routine (but not taxing) task, and just enjoy yourself and the sunshine Nothing better, in my opinion!

I have dwarf dahlias too...mine are only about a foot tall...they make such a great show for so little effort...terrific plants...Toto looks like a chrysanthemum..!

Hi, Lori! Doesn't he look like a chrysanth? Yet, I've been reliably informed that he is an anemone-type dahlia! Possibly a cross-breed, perhaps? These grow to 3ft, but ours are only about 2ft (new-bought tubers planted in late April).

You are preaching to the converted, David....lol. I have a red cactus dahlia that is just sooooo red...and a dinnerplate that is about 4 ft tall with a whole raft of huge blossom... wonderful plants...from a package that was supposed to be cactus dahlias I have a pom-pom ...happy accident! and a good variety of colours from yellow, to yellow speckled, to white with mauve blush to pure mauve to white with yellow centre, RED, and magenta with yellow centre... had one wilt and die..don't know why...but all in all, I have found a lot of interest for a very reasonable price...I'm planting more next season along with zinnias...find they look great together...will have to make note of Toto and see what I can find.

hi, Lori. I found this dahlia "Toto" whilst actually trying to buy a pompon dahlia variety with the name "Wizard of Oz". i knew of it, and it was introduced to the UK earlier this year, but all retailers sold out immediately, I had no chance. This became a nice, surprise substitute. Anyhow, I prefer this colour to the pink colour of "Wizard of Oz" (don't know what pink has to do with the story/movie anyhow). wow, I'm going to look for these dahlia pics of yours!
