Thanks girls .. I've only had it since April it replaced the Pittosporium that died in the winter ...
It's an Elder Ladybug , it is naturally green in the hedgerows ,the one that you see the bunches of Elderberries on , this is the same except it's black ....
It's a lovely contrast isn't it Carole ! the pink and black and I will have some berries to make some Sambucus syrup :o)

The reason that I'm trying to rid myself of this elder is that it is far too big for my garden. Even if cut right back to about 10 inches it regrows to be a monster every year.

I have a big space to fill Toto where a Pittosporium died in the winter so I don't mind how big it gets , we have a chainsaw ..LOL...

I love this shrub,beat mine too Amy, nearly there though :-) Have another very similar called 'Black Beauty' not as lovely as this but still pretty, doesn't have the really ferny leaves.
