Probably sitting on a grass seed head.Most of my Common Blue photos were taken a mile or so down the road where there was a thriving colony.I used to see as many as six all in a line on one stalk of grass.Sadly there just dont seem so many about these days.

Truly beautiful photo and what a misnomer as anything but common nowadays.Takes me back to childhood - some would say I never left it - but remember Large blues ,Painted ladies even occassional Swallowtail ,
Brimstones were very common.Lovely to see you dedicating your time and garden to such treasures.
