Old Deckchair

I restored this deckchair a few years ago. I recently put a photo on the site "Sand Sea and Driftwood". Angie (Scottish) asked "where's the deckchair" ? ............ So Angie, here it is. <]:-))

What a great job you've done with it too Alan. Like the colour of the canvas.
Can just imagine myself snoozing away in that chair Alan - how many times have you done that ;)

Thanks Angie and Sandra ...... I have spent many a happy hour in this chair, but please don't tell the boss. Glad you both like it. I came across the frame when clearing out my Mums garage after she passed away. I just couldn't take it to the tip. I had some good advice from the lady at "Deckchair Stripes" who advised me on the fabric run and how to secure it. Angie, you're welcome to try it anytime. Sandra, I might just frighten everyone at GOY and take a "selfie" sitting in it one day ... Watch this space. <]:-))

Thanks Jane ..... Happy Days. Only one problem, when I sit in it to relax and enjoy the garden, I fall asleep. I do the same watching a good film, I usually see the first and last 5 minutes, with an hour and a half snooze in between.

Lovely restoration work. I have a photo of my granddad sleeping in a deckchair on the beach. Some used to have a cover that came up over the head to protect one from the sunshine.

Thank you Lindak. It is handmade, you can still see the pencil lines on the wood where the joints have been marked out. I have seen the type of chair you mean in very old photos and on various websites when I was preparing to do this little project. Unfortunately now both of my parents have passed away, I don't know the history behind it. I found it in their garage, when I was clearing it out, getting ready to sell their bungalow.
