Thanks.. Yes Sheila, I seem to have lots of spiders this year. They are hanging webs everywhere.

. . . lots of tiny ones too - nearly always find one somewhere in my hair when I've been gardening!

great if somewhat gruesome pic - don't know if your spiders are bigger than mine - I seem to have quite a few, and they all have webs where I'm guraranteed to walk into them - I'm a bit nervy of trying to get close once I find out that they're there, I don't have much depth vision so can't judge distance and don't want to put my face into t! But either they're not very successful or the captures are tiny, cos I've never seen any spider "at work"

'Wont you come into my parlour, said the spider to the fly....'

Ditto, Hywel. Spiders freak me out at the same time as fascinating me.

I don't mind spiders but I don't like to see thngs being killed ... I know it's only a fly and spiders must eat and we kill things to eat aswell ... but it's horrible.

Agree with you on that point too!

I have been watching all my bugs a fair bit and the humble much maligned Fly pollinates, by accident or design, as much as any other insect. I don't think we could do with out them.

That's interesting, Pimms. Everything's here for a reason, I'm sure; all part of the great Circle of Life.

lol humans do tend to divide nature into "useful for us" and "everything else"
