Ship's supplies - potato "Pixie", in plastic compost bags, turned outside in, then placed in hessian sacks to look more "authentic".

It looks very authentic David , my grandsons are into Pirates , when they come for their holiday we have the swords the flags etc. the house is over run with Pirates , there are certain rugs you mustn't step off or you will be in deep water eaten by sharks ..LOL.. I have a huge 6ft tall cardboard cut out of a Pirate hanging in their bedroom ....

Wow! Where did the bold print come from?
The barrel still has last year's strawbs in, 6d, neeed to replant and top up with fresh compost.
Amy - if you need some "long-term" baby-sitting, send them, by courier, to us, along with the cut-out!! lol!! X

Don't temp me David , Their swords have chopped many an innocent plants head off ...LOL.. they have taken over a tall conifer tree just outside the front gate , they have put slats of wood up it ( with the help of their dad ) leading to a crows nest up there on a platform .. :o))

Hope your potatoes are ok in this awful weather. I have held off planting mine because it is so cold. I like your idea of using the hessian sack to disguise the black bag.It will probably give the plant extra insulation from the cold and stop evaporation during hot dry spells.
