Love them, Motinot, along with ferns and heucheras. ;-)
They must be, Gee, which is a shame, really, as pirates do like slugs - especially ones of rum or ale! :-)
Have had this plant for 10 years, 6d, although, by now, it has produced nesrly 20 offspring, by division. This one has been in a 20" pot for nearly 4 years. My motto for these is "Hosta la Vista, Baby" . I'm a determined slug/snail terminator!!

If you have your hostas in pots a smear of vaseline round the top outside of the pot seems to keep the slugs at bay. I think you have missed your vocation David these are lovely.
