Sorry Hywel...know how you feel about snow and birds Lol But nothing else on show you lol !

Weird today Ray/Jane, the 9 wood pigeons, 3 magpies, the little ones hopping around and the squirrel collecting the peanuts in shells, a brief visit from the thrush and the poor buzzard beyond being chased by 3 crows, diving and swooping around.

Sometimes things happen so fast its hard to take it all in.At one point today there was a huge flock of starlings, lots of blackbirds, two robins scrapping,a small flock of sparrows, and a pair of bluetits. ! Spellbinding !

I know what you mean, I was fascinated by the activities today and albeit sad, we get to see more of them when its cold and their hungry

Lovely little chap. I just love the way their tails bob up and down and the way they can appear to walk on water when there's a little bit of weed there to support them. I hope my yellow wagtail comes back this year.

19 Dec, 2009

We never had yellow wagtail visit Wagger. Looking forward to seeing a pic of yours.

Beautiful. In Rayleigh, not far from where I live, they run around the shoppers feet.

20 Dec, 2009

That is one very cold pond. how do you stop your starlings eating all the mealworms as soon as i put some out they they have eated them in miniutes.

20 Dec, 2009

Funny you should say that Clarice but I put a fresh lot of mealworms out about 15 minutes ago and the Starlings have already had the lot. The Robin is on the bird table eating cake.

20 Dec, 2009

Is there nothing the starlings dont eat.

20 Dec, 2009

lovely pics..... i have been going out and defrosting the birds water every day for them.. glad when it turns a bit warmer.....

20 Dec, 2009

Clarice we put the mealworms in the fat so starlings busy with that whilst place some on stump and around pond for robin and wagtail.Well robin probably well used to being stuck on top of a cake Toto ..

Fortunately Holly we have a small bathing pool at edge of pond which easier to keep defrosted..cant beleive so many happy to wash in this freezing weather ...

20 Dec, 2009

I do that but then i get them not just on the fat cakes but they seem to bush the other little ones out the way to get at where ever i put mealworms aswell

20 Dec, 2009

That does look cold, glad it is him/she and not me lol

20 Dec, 2009

No one messes with our little Robin he as real attitude & rules his patch ;-)

20 Dec, 2009

It's the off cuts from my daughters wedding cake which is full of currants, raisins and glacie cherries. It is very rich and hopefully good for all the birds.

20 Dec, 2009

Perfect for them Toto...full of rich goodness. What a treat !!

20 Dec, 2009

I think that the birds are doing ok at the moment as apart from cake there was half a loaf which had got a bit stale so that was chopped up in the blender thing and mixed wit lots of fat. They also had some mealworms and some raisins and some seed. They are eating better than me.

20 Dec, 2009

Know the feeling mate ! Lovely smells coming from kitchen earlier.Oh wonder if thats my tea on the go ! No such luck...its tomorrows porridge, sultana and fat dish being prepared for the birds ! Lol

20 Dec, 2009

I had lamb tonight but couldn't have too much as it would have deprived the foxes who have a tin of dog food and any of my dinner that can be wrested from my grasp. Still, wouldn't have it any other way.

20 Dec, 2009

Lucky foxes.Wouldnt mind betting they getting a Christmas dinner too !

20 Dec, 2009

They certainly will.

21 Dec, 2009
