Awe he is cute could nt have a better thing to tell you his adventures so what did he tell .😊

He said he arrived here on a plane at JFK in a shipment for the pet trade. At JFK, somebody got blamed for setting him free, but he opened the latch himself and escaped from the container. He took refuge in the surrounding parkland until the media rucus died down and everybody forgot about him. Since then it's been breakfast at Tiffany's, a splash in my bird bath and a pedicure twice a month. He's been living it up on the East Side & made friends with a red tail hawk who taught him how to hunt for his own food. He thinks he found a girlfriend.

Awe bless him he has been on a journey then so he is an illegal immigrant then escaped lol. Watching your prisons over there on tv I would nt want to be caged in the usa facing the electric chair lol I would escape too.

Let's hope he has a full life and is looked after by the locals for food . You have spoiled him which is great that he finds your garden a safe haven and has found a friend. Have you told him about the birds and bees yet before he gets serious with this girlfriend I hope she takes care him and you get little ones visiting.

What a lovely tale with a happy ending Paul , that made me laugh 3p I've heard them called a lot of names but not those , I hear she couldn't be top dog Queen here so shes going to run for president over there ..

Lol Amy God help the USA . They both deserve each other watching how Harry was towards William prior to their marriages.

Prior to their wedding public replies in uk news from Canadaians said we can keep her they dont want her back there .
The press and people have been watching closely when she was pregnant bump up high one day low down with in hours the same day then her walking in a black and white dress the bump is moving side to side on you tube and with her big bump she can bend low with her knees together impossible to do when pregnant.

Well I see a red band on his leg so I'm sure he's been duly processed at Ellis Island I call him 'Mr. Bojangles" He's got so much to say I wish he would come up for air once in a while. lol. He's living the American Dream. No more life on the lam. He knows he can come to me for anything. There's always a fresh bath of water for him. The robins showed him how to find worms and where the best berries are found. Run for president? He's got my vote. I hope Vladimir Putin approves.

Wow! How cute! Will it survive there long term? If so, you may end up with lots of parrots. We have tons of parrots here in San Diego. People complain about how noisy they are. lol!

27 Feb, 2020

Hi Andy! Yes apparently he's been doing just fine. They are completely naturalized into the environment here and have a protected sanctuary at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Preserve near JFK. I read they've escaped (or were set free. Who really knows?) from a cargo hold at JFK. That was back in the early 1970's. This one broke off from the main flock and gave me a personal visit. They are a noisy bunch no doubt but are also known charmers which is what this guy is doing right now. They love their freedom. I say good for them - they got exactly what they wanted.

Wow! That's incredible! I'm amazed these parrots can survive in the snow and cold weather.

I love the parrots here. A flock of parrots fly over my house almost every day. They sometimes make a pit stop and eat the palm fruit from the very tall San Jose Hesper Palm (Brahea bandegeei) across the street.

27 Feb, 2020

lol that's funny. I see them mingling with the native birds. I was amazed to see this one sitting on my front gate. I thought it was somebody's pet until I noticed his red bracelet. He came right up to me.

27 Feb, 2020

Wow! That's amazing they're so friendly! The parrots here are not so friendly. lol!

Some parrots here are natives. All parrots were thought to be feral in San Diego.

What's so neat is that near the Mexican boarder there's a natural bird sanctuary and there's a flamingo there that's been there 3 years. Sea World San Diego and the San Diego Zoo were contacted to see if it had escaped. They weren't missing any. No one knows where the flamingo came from. It's a mystery.

It is a mystery. I think we underestimate their ability to adapt to new environments. I mean why wouldn't a parrot thrive in New York? The cardinals & blue jays do. Sometimes I see them splashing around in my bird bath out there - - in January! lol.

YOU HAVE A FRIEND FOR LIFE THERE. YOU'LL HAVE TO START WRITING...THE TALE OF MR. BOJANGLES....YOU MAY HAVE A BEST SELLER PAUL. HE'S FULL OF CHARACTER AND LOOKS VERY CHEEKY.....

28 Feb, 2020

LOL that's an idea. Quite an unusual story isn't it? Honestly, so many questions still to be answered. Why did he come to me?

28 Feb, 2020

I WRITE SHORT CHILDREN'S STORIES ABOUT THE CREATURES THAT LIVE AROUND HERE AND SOME IMAGINARY ONES AS WELL. I'VE JUST WRITTEN TWO SHORT STORIES ABOUT PRICKLES THE DETECTIVE AGENCY. AND THE CASE OF THE BLUE DRAGON. WHEN I THINK I HAVE GOT THEM JUST RIGHT, WITH GERRY'S HELP READING THROUGH THEM, THEY WILL GO OUT TO OUR COMMUNITY FREE FOR THE TAKING.

Lovely little anecdote, Bathgate! Polly’s adventures in paradise! Only joking..Mr Bojangles has a kind of cute ring to it.
Why did he come to you? Maybe you have everything he needs, including a big friendly welcome! Keep up the good work!

‘Well I see a red band on his leg’ ..lol..I thought you were talking about Harry! Lol!

MR. BOJANGLES,
A COOL PARROT WITH A RING
MIGHT BE A SPECIAL GENIE
WHO COULD MAGIC ANYTHING.
PERHAPS WITH SPECIAL POWERS
HE'D MAKE A WISH COME TRUE,
AND WHERE YOU'VE BEEN SO KIND TO HIM
HE MIGHT DO THAT FOR YOU.
WOULD YOU GO BACK IN HISTORY,
TO CASTLES REALLY OLD,
OR SAIL UPON A PIRATE SHIP
AND FIND A HOARD OF GOLD.
OR WOULD YOU GO TO OUTER SPACE,
AND FIND ANOTHER WORLD,
OR SEEK A SNEAK OF FAIRY TALES
WHERE DRAGONS ARE UNFURLED?
Let us know Paul...….keep us informed about Mr. Bojangles. He's lovely.

Hi Paul, in these interesting times this photo and subsequent story telling has really made me chuckle. Just what the doctor ordered. It's almost finished up as a blog ... Great fun, well done. Thank you. <]:~)

Thanks Alan. Hope you and your family are safe and well in these crazy times. I'm glad you got a good laugh. I'm still baffled by the whole experience with this bird. I have more questions than answers. Shouldn't he be in Costa Rica? Why did he come to me? He was super friendly and asked me to hold him. He seemed well fed and in good health - didn't need anything from me. No other bird as ever done that. Quaker Parrots are known charmers.

I thought I was lucky with our woodpeckers, but I guess you've gone one better. Enjoy his (or her) company while it's in the neighbourhood. Family are fine. Hope you and yours are too. Best wishes.

Thanks Alan!
