All four blossoms open. The flower head got heavy and is facing towards the floor, but I strapped the pot to the step so it can't tumble.....lol. Sweet intoxicating fragrance.

Thanks Gee. I had one break off last year, and seeing how tall this was getting, I knew something must be done. Belting it down is working perfectly, without having anything sitting on the soil like a stone.

Thanks. This is my favorite of the bunch. It is just so huge and having a smell, so intoxicating. Its sending up another bud now as well! I shall stake the next as all the blooms are facing down. Odd time of year to bloom, its ignoring the light and reaching out toward the windows.

I simply love this flower, GT! It's good to know there are scented varieties out there as well! I'd love to have at least one of my seedling Amaryllis turn out with some scent - unlikely though, none of the parents are scented!

I'm noting the smell and variety name specifically this time. It is so enjoyable. I must feed better this year as the blooms are less dramatic this time round. I hope you luck out with some scent anyhow. :-)

That is what I'm thinking too Janey. Such a great smell too, reminds me of verbena.

Amazing size, never grown these, might try one of these days.....

You'll find them available in the late fall/winter. I recommend this one since it is so large and has a scent. But most are half this size.

Many of my seedling Amaryllis have now begun to flower for the first time. :-) One is especially big, it is white with red flushing on the interior of the petals. The flowers are so big that my outstretched hand hardly covers the bloom! You can see a photo of it in my pictures page.

Thank you Michaella. :) This is a real good one. Not so happy after the cane broke though, Trying to bring it back to health to bloom another year.

One of mine bent over almost to the point of breaking & I really did think I had lost it for a while! This has never happened to me before! I found a cane & tied it upright again & the flowers continued without a hitch for more than a week!
I'm about to publish my blog on the seedling Amaryllis. I'm so happy with the flowers, it has made the 4 years of waiting well worth while! Many of the flowers are the biggest I've ever grown!
