Each season has its own beauty but I am quite partial to that summer photo...

The blues are agapanthus - we keep them in pots to contain their roots - they seem to flower better that way. They are just placed amongst the perennials. They spend the winter against a fence, which provides some protection.

I love the colour in your garden! It's so interesting to hear about the filming taking place too! I am hoping to co-incide a visit to your garden with visiting my mother in Birmingham in February or May - I can't wait to see what it's like, I always think it's hard to do justice to gardens in photos somehow!

Would love to see you. The February open day could be interesting - we may be under a foot of snow if the winter carries on in this cold mode it's got into!

We worked out in the garden this evening until 6pm (with our head torches) but it was deeply cold by then. It was below freezing all day so that restricted what we could do. Today we got a garden shredder through mail order - so that kept my husband busy for quite a while. I finally got round to putting bubble wrap in two temporary greenhouses - though I don't think that will stop the plants freezing. It's difficult to plant in the borders because both the pots of shrubs and ground are so frozen.

Wow I usually quite like getting out in the garden in any weather - even in light rain, but that sounds like dedicated work you're doing! It's been very cold here too, infact quite unusually for Wirral we had snow last night that's still on the ground now!
