Turning Viburnum edule

Turning Viburnum edule

The viburnum turns a dark red, always found in large patches on the hillsides. It seems to be the first to respond to the changing season. This forest is filled with the near overpowering sweet scent of its berries.

Thank you! :-) This was back in Mid September. Winter is well on nowadays. I may get a chance to move to my friends house nestled in this patch of forest. Can't really decide if I will or not yet. It is a lovely place, very different than where I live now. I wish a walk were more pleasant, the smell is almost overwhelming of those berries going over.

obviously if it makes life easier for you over the winter it must be a good move....

Lovely! Are the berries eaten by wildlife, GT? I'd be worried about foraging black bears??

Thank you Yorkshire.

Arlene, I would be moving permanently. The other is not nearly as cute but it will be higher on a hill so almost 20 degrees warmer through winter and has plumbing and water. Many conveniences, but I'd have to leave my home. Maybe I can finally get them to finish plumbing this cabin so I can stay.

Thanks GZ. Doesn't seem anything uses this viburnum berry. They'll just pickle all winter on the bush. People don't really like them here. Even the black bears. :-)

I love the silver birch forest.

No shortage here in the boreal forest Chris. I always loved them growing up and now I take them for granted a bit.
