Lovely

These yellow hollyhocks are beautiful, Amy. My mom had them in her garden ages ago...and I tried growing them but they always succumbed to rust. Finally I gave up. Thought I'd never have the pleasure of seeing them again, thanks Amy.

Thanks Carole ! Lori they do suffer from rust although this one isn't to bad , this one was sent to me and was suppose to be black ,I was very suprised when it opened to see this lovely yellow .. I'm pleased it was able to bring back a happy memory for you :o))

I've been trying to find a single flowered yellow but it doesn't seem to be a popular colour.. lots of the black, and doubles... but no yellows to be found here.

That would be lovely, Amy. I will happily share seed with you... I don't have any hollyhocks and to have yellows would be just perfect. Found some Mallow growing in the clematis bed and they are so pretty...close to hollyhocks, but I didn't plant them! must be seed from the previous owner's garden. What I really want is a lovely large bed of yellow hollyhocks, so I can take a pic of them with the morning sun on them!

Ours are covered in rust this year, so sad, love this yellow one.

The rust comes from the soil...I wonder if there's a special mulch that would work to stop the rust spores from getting on the leaves? I'm going to coddle these babies! can't wait!
