Can only dream about having these sorts of flowers in my garden. So delicate looking - really wonderful.

Hi Boscoman, welcome to GOY. These plants are as tough as old boots and if I (Mr Neglect) can grow them anyone can ! They're a beautiful and varied family - I would urge you to give 'em a go. :-)

I shall have a little look at them in greater detail when I get a chance and I may very well have a go, armoured with your encouragement. Thanks for your hospitality.

Yep! they grow well and come in a pink to creamy white range.

What a beautiful flower Mw. I believe they like moist soil, don't they. Our's is so dry and sandy, it restricts what will grow in it, even after adding plenty of garden compost (well, hubby did.) I love Astrantias, and that one is the prettiest one I've seen.

Hi Mad, yes they do 'prefer' a moist soil. Like you, I too have a sandy soil and give it loads of compost, so I suppose my plants don't grow to their full potential BUT I'm a persistant b****r ! ... lol

Love it , this is the one for me, used to grow astrantias when we lived at the cottage , would love a cutting of this one Muddy it will bring back many happy memories and remind me of you too of course ;0))

It would be a pleasure. I've just read that they can be propagated by fresh seed or by division in March to May, so if you PM me your address we can try both methods. :-)

Thanks Muddy will do ;0)
