was surprised to find how many campanulas there are.. another that I like is what my mom used to call the "cupandsaucer" plant...lol. my cousin just gave me a small clump of korean bell flower...it's so pretty...pink droopy blossoms that look like petticoats! wonderful combination...

Sounds lovely! How about a photo...please? I shall search your page for it!

by "just" I guess I should clarify... my cousin gave me the plants last spring ... there is a pic of it don't know what page of my photos... probably 8 or 9... thanks!

Thanks - I'll pop over there now and try to find it, Lori! Shan't be too long, I hope!

Oh WOW! Lori - I missed the photos of your SNOW! Is it still there? I hope you are keeping warm... I'm going back again....

Hi Lori - found it on page err.... 24?? It is very like one I have - very pretty.

sorry...guess I lost track! lol.... the snow has been gone for a week or so..we've had warm temps til yesterday...up and down, up and down...it's really not healthy! look like petticoats don't they? I just love them and they are quite hardy..anything that can stand up to our winters has my undying gratitude!

19 Nov, 2008

I suppose your plants have to be really hardy, do they?

19 Nov, 2008

are you sure? 24?...noooo... try page 13 first row...second one in...
yes they have to be reasonably hardy because I don't have a greenhouse to coddle things along...lol. I prefer to grow what will accept what I can give it and graciously add it's flowers to the mix... I can grow tropicals ...but they are annuals in my garden...or buy bulbs, corms and rhizomes and dig them every season. Not ideal...but if you know what works...

Ooops! Had a senior moment there, Lori! That was the photo I looked at. Sorry. Still looking lovely, though!
Thought.... I'm sure that mine don't clump up like that one seems to - the leaves and flowers look the same, though. Mine come up as single stems.

I have the purple bells~ they come up tall on a single stem...this cluster of the petticoats is single stems too... they self seed and spread quite readily...takes to transplant without a lot of fuss as well. the purple bells die off with the first frost~ the petticoats keep blossoming...! I've always just thought of it as Korean Bell flower...but there is variety under that name too! Definitely a keeper if you can find it. really should find and use the proper nomenclature but purple bells and petticoats are easier for my old brain to remember!
