Thanks both, no flowers Andrew I had a bud 2 years ago but it got frosted before it opened.

I have not heard of this plant . Is it hardy in UK?? It looks so interesting. Have to investigate if it would survive on the Vancouver island. Thanks for posting the picture.

Monty Don was talking about these on GW last Sat evening...His didnt flower either, but he said he didnt mind and loves the foliage....I agree P...:>)

Thanks all, Klahanie I lost one 2 years ago when it was really cold but a thick mulch usually gets it through the winter.
Yes Moti I love the foliage as well, even if it does flower the blooms arn't large compared to the plant and they are so high up you can't really see them :o))

It's funny you should say that there is a Cardiocrinum in that border, the bad news is it's not a happy plant and I dont think it will see spring:-(

Oh Lordy have just sent for one of these very large dahlias, but the one I have ordered is Tenuicaulis, do you take it in or leave it in the ground? I expected it to be large, but not as large as that lol what an enormous wall?

I kept it frost free last year but this year its staying in the ground with a mulch over it as I have back up plant should I lose it. The wall is about 22ft tall south facing and very helpful :o)
