This is the reason why this tree should NOT be planted in a small urban garden. Photo taken in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. on April 4, 2012.

Thanks my friend! The two Ficus macrophylla 'Columnaris' located close to the Rueben H. Fleet Science Center have roots like this, also.
We're so lucky to have many of these old, huge trees here in San Diego.

Wow there is a tree root system like this in Leamington Jephson gardens. I have a photo some where.

I'd love to see your pic! This isn't even the whole root-system. It's so massive. The tree is gigantic, also. Luckily, it's in Balboa Park.

Nice photo, I have an almost duplicate of this I took last year. I also took a picture up into the canopy from underneath. The tree is huge and it's hard to capture much from that angle . You definitely wouldn't want it planted close any structure.
