But do you grow it in pots or in the ground? I took 3 cutting of it yesterday & put them in a small jar of water in the kitchen; I find they root very easily that way. Once they have roots I'll pot them up & keep them in the kitchen till next spring. While I was at it I also took 3 or 4 cuttings of F. 'Beacon'. It doesn't root quite so freely in water as 'Garden News' but I'll pot them up also if they root.
The mother plants will stay outside all winter but in a slightly more protected location - under the balcony table!
But what to do with the Fuchsia standard? I'll probably put it on the balcony table & wrap fleece around it. Several Beacon standards lived that way for several years - until the terrible winter of 2009/10, when they died.

I have one in the ground and a couple in pots.

What sort of pots are they in & how big? Have you a sheltered place to put them for the winter?
Mine will have to go underneath the balcony table. They should be safe enough there.

I have this lovely one too. It is reliably hardy for me.
