Lovely combination of flowers and foliage.

My 'Midnight Reiter' is full of flower but seems to be losing a lot of the bottom leaves.

My Dark Reiters have hardly grown at all Annie, and the other lovely dark one that Spritz kindly sent me, has not grown much either and doesn't look like flowering at all...hocus pocus. :( I will give them another year and see what happens...may have to move them, but they are in sunny dry places, so can't think what the problem is.

Mine is too Karen, in the front garden gravel.

Perhaps they are just slow to establish Annie....I hope so.

Why is my bottom dying off? I have watered it in well.

Not enough lunch Annie!! lol....I don't know, I usually see 'bottom rot' on plants that like it dry and are getting too much water....could be insects or slugs?

26 Jul, 2011

Crusty leaves Karen.....Lol to lunch though!!

26 Jul, 2011

Maybe it's a bit on the dry side there then annie.

Just can't win here can I....find them a sunny spot and they are still not happy! Silly clay ;O((

26 Jul, 2011

yeah! but tbh I don't really know Annie! :))

Take the plants out and inspect them for grubs, or roots not growing out (use of root inhibitor) then pot them on with new compost leave in pots until growing really well then plant out usually works for us........hope it works for you.

Thanks Dotty ;o))

Your welcome, I hate loosing plants.

27 Jul, 2011

Me too ;o))

I took your advice and dug mine up yesterday, hardley any rootball but some fine roots appearing. The soil was very damp under the gravel which surprised me. Plant is now in a pot in the recovery bay ;O))

Annella there is usually a reason why a certain plant fails to grow, we have a very pretty low growing pink HG which started to look very sad and half the size it was a few months ago, so I dug it up to find a red ants nest, so most of the roots had been eaten!! so now that has been hospitalised, we had used to leave the plant alone and hope it would recover in time, not any more, have saved several plants this year, so hope yours will make a full recovery....
