During the frosty period, this Hellebore was lying flat on the ground. Today it is back to normal! Hooray!

No sign of mine flowering at all :-(

Well, Andrew - you told me that you couldn't grow Helleborus niger. I can't imagine why not, as you grow other fabulous Hellebores, but there it is.
My other established plants all have great big fat buds on them. Can't wait!

Such a stout and hardy plant.

Amazing, isn't it! I really thought it was a gonner - but look at it now... thank goodness.

They seem to shrug off the worst the weather can throw at them and come up smiling.

It was me that was smiling, Wagger!

oooo - that reminds me - I will have to check on mine! :-)

I'm not surprised, Spritz.

I was worried about it - especially as I fear for some of my plants, even though I fleeced them. They don't look well at all. Bit like me, really! Maybe they need antibiotics too - I've got some as from today!

H.niger does not like acid soils, that's why I struggle to grow it spritz. It's currently beside a path where I hope it can get its roots among the cement and scalpings underneath

SCALPINGS? Andrew - what have you been up to? Playing cowboys and indians for real in Berkshire?
14 Jan, 2009
Now that would be telling! :-)
Scalpings are miscellaneous bits of stone and rubble put down and compacted before laying a path

Mine are still asleep.
17 Jan, 2009
Ah...that's like mine...not flourishing like yours though Spritz :o(
