Was sent this 5 years ago as a free gift with some other daylilies, so tiny didn't even think it'd survive, flowering at last.

Does that indicate it's quite a weak grower or a very slow grower then, can they vary 'that' much ?

Some are quite slow to increase Louise, but this was a really small fan with just a tiny bit of root not usually this slow, never normally take more than two years to flower.
Had one in the garden this year that unfortunately got snapped off when my nephews were playing football,a new one that was just one fan, had a flower scape and buds only had about 2inch of root attached, cut it right back and replanted, not thinking it would regrow but worth a try, that was early June its regrown and has another flower bud can't believe it from that tiny bit of root, think it depends on the variety and how vigorous they are.
